Hotel industry joins green building program
With the multi-billion dollar hotel industry continue to enjoy the luxury of pocketing millions of income every year in tourist destination countries, it also found out to engage itself in the greening program to maintain the beauty of nature where they are established as well as their way of campaigning and helping the many efforts of environmentalists all over the world. It all started with Mammoth Mountains leading the charge when it first established what they called the first LEED certified structure. This simply stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
Mammoth Mountains operates different resort businesses and in Mammoth Lakes it is able to established the first ever LEED certified edifice with three bedroom and two bath cabin. According to reports the structure will be opened for travelers and vacationers this month. The cabin is joined by 34 properties that are traditionally built and was made possible with the partnership of businesses in California. The amazing features of the cabin is that it is made of hardwood which are identified as environment-friendly, including its decking material as well as the recycled carpeting. It also uses recycled fiber glass insulation, and thermal windows. The structure even exceeds more than 37 percent the requirements set forth by the energy department of California, according to Rusty Gregory, a top official at Mammoth Mountain. In fact, the structure is certified by the US Green Building Council as a high performance green building structure.
There are also reports that more hotel and hospitality industry schools are now being taught about the importance of greening programs of the local government of California. This is very welcome development so that students would be aggressive in campaigning for a green environment. There are now many universities in California which offer hotel and hospitality programs that ensure the greening program is relayed to their students. Officials said the effort made by Mammoth Mountains is one good example that hotel school administrators should consider educating the students.
